Teaching for Transformation

TEACHING FOR TRANSFORMATION

For the past 100 years, Chicago Christian Schools have been committed to being Christ-centered and giving an education rooted in the truth of God’s word. Teaching for Transformation offers our teachers best practice instructional strategies that invite, nurture, and empower students into seeing and living out God’s story. TfT isn’t “just another education program,” it’s a way to design learning experiences that consistently integrate faith into content. Our goal at CCS is that our students leave our schools transformed by God’s story so that they can go about and be agents of renewal and transformation in God’s world.

TfT’s Core Practices

CCS students regularly experience the following TfT core practices as part of their daily classroom learning.

Deep Hope - A deep hope is a statement of purpose or calling that directly ties to God’s story and the mission of CCS. Every teacher at CCS has a deep hope that showcases just how much our teachers are dedicated to learning beyond basic content acquisition. Our staff is committed to a different kind of educational experience, one that prepares our students spiritually, socially, academically, culturally, and physically to serve in God’s kingdom.

Storyline
- Every classroom at CCS has a storyline. Storylines are short and memorable phrases that regularly invite students to reflect on how God’s story of creation, fall, redemption, and restoration is showing up in their daily learning. Here are some examples of a few CCS storylines:

FLEX
-
A formational learning experience (FLEX) gives students authentic learning experiences that bring to life storylines and throughlines they have been learning in their classrooms. FLEXes are designed to challenge students to take their classroom learning and engage in real work that meets the real needs of real people.
