I graduated from CCHS in 2006, and reflecting on my journey, I can see how deeply my high school years shaped the path I've walked. At the time, I didn’t fully recognize the value of the community around me, but looking back, I now understand it was a blessing God placed in my life in preparation for what lay ahead!

In 2018, my world was rocked when my husband, Joel Fajardo, was nearly killed in a highway shooting, and just six months later, he survived a life-threatening aneurysm. Then, in 2019, we welcomed our micro-premie daughter, Ella, who was born with spina bifida. I would not be close to the position I am in today or where I would like to be in the future without Chicago Christian. I graduated from Christian High in 2021, and, from basketball and golf to student government and NHS, I was able to participate in several different sports and clubs which helped shape me into a leader. The staff and my peers will always have a lasting impact on who I am because of the family environment that was provided throughout my time. People I think of most during my time are Coaches Kevin Pittman and Kevin Pittman Jr., who coach the varsity basketball program, and Mrs. Schnyders, who oversaw the student government. My fondest memories are our basketball trip to Florida my junior year and freshman year spirit week.

As I take a step back to reflect on my time going through SCCS from preschool through senior year at CCHS, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to receive a Christian education and humbled by the sacrifices that were made to provide me with that opportunity. While at Chicago Christian, I participated in football, track, band, mock trial, student council, and senior activities committee. At CCHS I made lifelong friends whose kids occasionally call me “uncle.” From dissecting frogs and pigs with Mrs. Vilendrer to learning the states and capitals of Central America in Spanish with Mrs. Roozeboom (that song still pops into my head every now and then), mentorship groups with Mr. Payne, and Chapels, every moment, interaction, and experience was orchestrated by God for the life He had planned for me.
